Three people were killed in an apparent murder/suicide at an apartment complex in Ellenville Thursday morning, according to Village Police Chief Philip Mattracion.
In a brief press conference, Mattracion said the shootings took place at the Canal Lock apartments, at 110 Center St.
The chief said the department is still investigating a motive for the shootings and any relationship that exists between the people killed.
Ellenville schools were placed on lockdown following the shooting but were lifted around 11 a.m. The Ulster County Sheriff’s Office reported there was no intruder in any Ellenville Central School District buildings.
The chief did not comment on reports of a person in an SUV that was possibly involved.
